TAKE THE BACK AND NECK PAIN HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENT.

This free, online assessment is a great tool for helping you better understand what steps you should be considering.

WHEN SHOULD YOU SEE A DOCTOR ABOUT BACK OR NECK PAIN?

You should see a doctor if your back or neck pain hasn’t started to get better after two weeks. But there are also times when you shouldn’t wait. See a doctor immediately if any of the following are occurring:

When you have back or neck pain plus incontinence. Spinal pain that includes a loss of bladder or bowel control can be a sign of severe nerve damage that can become permanent if left untreated.

When you have pain or weakness in your arms or legs. This can be a sign that you have a pinched nerve, usually caused by disc damage or spinal stenosis (a narrowing of the spaces in your backbones where your spinal cord is housed).

When you have a high fever along with your back or neck pain. This is a potential sign of an infection that may need to be treated immediately.

When you’ve lost weight without trying. Back or neck pain that occurs with an unexplained weight loss may have more serious causes and needs immediate attention.

When you have problems with balance and coordination. This could be a possible sign of restricted blood flow or damaged nerves.
